It’s become pretty evident that large, beefy steel watches are beginning to come back into style. While you’ll probably notice right away that this is classified as a “diving” watch, its underwater ratings do leave something to be desired. You can get this watch wet without worry, but some might tell you to think twice before taking this exploring along a coral reef somewhere. Where this watch really shines is out of the water, on the wearer’s wrist at formal occasions, and other types of outings where stylish, yet professional attire is encouraged. At first glance, one would think that the white faceplate would make reading the watch a bit trickier, but it actually contrasts nicely against the silver hands and lettering along the edge.
The watch’s band is of the linked stainless steel variety, and is reasonably sturdy, although Invicta may wish to pay a bit more attention to smoothing down snag spots between the linkages. Overall, this is a highly functional piece, and where Invicta’s formidable reputation for quality craftsmanship earns its keep is in the time-keeping characteristics, and in how simple they make the process of setting the secondary functions, such as the date. In short, it just works and the type of people who are likely to wear it most likely have better things to fiddle around with than their watch dials anyway. That type of dependability is worth far more to some people than the asking price for this piece, making it quite the bargain. While there’s nothing overly flashy or gaudy about it, it does possess a sort of subdued elegance which might be perfect for the type of gentleman that holds themselves to a higher standard of maturity, and acts accordingly.
